Best Southwire Solar & Wind Power in 2022

Why Choose Southwire Solar & Wind Power Cable?

Southwire Solar & Wind Power is the first company to use high-quality aluminum cable in its solar and wind energy projects. Its commitment to reducing carbon dioxide emissions, oil resistance, and community involvement are among the many reasons it has earned this distinction. Southwire's new partnership with Constellation will help meet the decentralized needs of its customers. The two companies will begin their agreement in April 2022 and will sell retail power to each other.

High-quality aluminum cable

The construction of wind and solar energy systems requires a variety of cables. Cables for solar and wind power systems are typically made of cross-linked polyethylene (PVC), aluminum, and copper. They meet ASTM standards and are available in bare copper clad steel. Some types are made from a combination of all three materials. Regardless of the type of cable, it should be tested to ensure safety and quality.

When choosing wire for solar and wind power, make sure you purchase the appropriate size and amp rating. While a larger diameter will give a higher amp capacity, a thicker wire will be safer. Aluminum cable for solar and wind power is composed of insulated wires and an outer jacket. It is best suited for outdoor installations and is durable and weather-resistant. Make sure to follow the manufacturer's recommendations when determining the wire's amperage rating.

Aluminum has many advantages over copper, including cost. It is 70 percent lighter than copper, making it easier to install and handle. Aluminum cables are also much easier to handle than copper cables. And they're less likely to break, so they're a better option in the long run. High-quality aluminum cable for solar & wind power installations is available now. Just make sure to research the material's benefits before buying it.

Oil resistance

The oil resistance of Southwire solar & wind power cable meets or exceeds manufacturer specifications. It is flexible and meets manufacturer specifications for oil resistance. It can be easily connected to the electrical access box located inside a tower without additional splices or connectors. These benefits mean less cutting of the cable and increased uptime for your solar & wind power installation. Below are a few reasons why Southwire is the right cable for your needs.

Commitment to reduce carbon dioxide emissions

Southwire Solar & Wind Power has made a commitment to reduce its carbon footprint by 30 percent over the next ten years. Through this commitment, it will offset its greenhouse gas emissions by purchasing renewable energy credits from a Butler County solar power system. By 2025, it aims to completely eliminate its scope 1 and scope 2 GHG emissions. The company began introducing renewable energy solutions in 2016.

With its 124-kW solar array, Southwire has already reduced 86 metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalents, the equivalent of almost 10,000 gallons of gasoline not consumed. The company purchased the system as part of a citywide initiative called Solarize Carrollton-Carroll. This campaign is designed to lower the cost of solar energy, by making solar collectors affordable to more residents. Moreover, Southwire's involvement in the program triggered a rebate for all participants.

Carbon dioxide emissions are largely caused by the burning of fossil fuels, which are still central to world economies. They power electric utilities, industrial and vehicle fleets, heat and cool buildings, and household cooking. In the developing world, the focus on these resources has largely been on feeding their populations and building infrastructure and health facilities. Now, Southwire Solar & Wind Power is embracing the clean energy movement to make its community carbon neutral.

Community involvement

If you're interested in building a sustainable future, you're not alone. Communities nationwide are interested in renewable energy development, and Southwire is a leader in corporate sustainability. Southwire's commitment to sustainability involves several key areas, including community involvement, building a safe and inclusive work environment, ensuring accountability throughout the organization, and delivering the highest level of customer service. Here are some ways you can get involved.

In Huntersville, N.C., Southwire has a state-of-the-art facility with cutting-edge technology to manufacture high-voltage underground transmission cables. Its work transfers massive amounts of electricity and supports the nation's smart grid initiative. Community involvement with Southwire Solar & Wind Power is one of the company's core values, and they've incorporated these values into their corporate culture and operations.

A well-planned solar and wind project should consider community co-benefits. These can range from protecting pollinators to enhancing habitat. Many communities benefit from co-benefits, such as protecting natural resources. Likewise, communities can help benefit from co-benefits by simultaneously achieving environmental protection and natural resource goals. This is especially beneficial when it comes to utility-scale solar and wind power projects.

Contracts

A US manufacturer of wire and cable is making the environment a priority by signing renewable energy contracts (RECs). The US company will match up to 33% of its electricity usage with RECs from the Rayos del Sol solar project in Cameron County. The Rayos del Sol solar project is owned by 174 Power Global, TotalEnergies and Constellation, which has agreed to provide 108 megawatts of electricity and 72 RECs to three commercial customers by April 2022.

The deal between the two companies is a big step forward. A separate agreement between Southwire and the Co-Owners of the Rayos del Sol solar power project has been announced. The two companies plan to start commercial operation of the 108 MW solar facility in April 2022. This partnership will reduce Southwire's carbon footprint by an estimated 80,000 metric tons annually and reduce its scope two carbon emissions by 17,000 passenger vehicles each year.

Vineyard Wind is the first commercial offshore wind farm in the US. Located 15 miles off the coast of Martha's Vineyard, this facility will supply electricity for over 400,000 homes. The company recently had a ceremonial ground breaking for the project. The power-generating plant is expected to begin producing power in 2023. While the Vineyard Wind project is relatively new, it already shows great potential for the environment. Vineyard Wind is excited to partner with Southwire and is looking forward to the future of renewable energy.

The project has a carbon-zero goal. Southwire plans to achieve total carbon neutrality by 2025. By 2025, it expects to offset all scope one and scope two GHG emissions. This will help reduce the amount of electricity Southwire consumes. In addition, Southwire will be responsible for the vast majority of the electricity generated at the Vineyard Wind 1 site. These projects are good news for North Carolina.
